Adwords Tatics - Few Little Helpful Tips

Hi, this maybe help to some adwords starters with low budgets....

Adwords can be a complicated game so heres a few things to try.

Ignore content network for now and turn that option off as lots of wasted clicks can come from here.

To start off pick a max of 5-10 keywords per page or item.
Put in your max bid so your ad will show in position 3-4 on page 1

(Broad matches on these keywords will bring a lot of junk traffic, try and use exact/phase match if possible)

Now make 2 adverts slightly different with 'call to action' words within them

wait a week or so...

you will find that 1-2 keywords will get most clicks - delete the rest.(make a note of the ones you used)
you will also find 1 ad will get the most clicks - delete the other one. (again make a note of the ad so as not to write the same one again)

now - try and beat your own keywords and ads - make another similar keyword and see if it can top the others, if it does - delete the poorest one keeping the 2 good ones

At the same time - try and better your advert, make another similar ad if it starts doing better - delete the other one if not, just make another one - keep this going

what you end up doing is basicly being in competition with yourself and eventually a great CTR!

After some time google will give these very relevant ads a quality score - now you can bring the price down but keeping the same position - waheyy!

Remember - the landing page has to reflect the advert, if need be MAKE a specific landing page just for google ads as these can work wonders.

Now set up your goals, have a couple of landing pages for the same ad and see which one converts best

Voila.
Good keywords showing a good ads, landing on a quality page - conversions go up!

Another tip, im not sure if you have to be an adwords prof for this but a good thing to try in the titles.
make this title inc the brackets;

{Keyword: yourkeyword} <--change the keyword to your keyword.

This will the show whatever they typed plus the keyword you entered ie. if your keyword is 'door' it would be {Keyword: Door}

now if they type in 'wooden door' it will show as your title.

Also, dont bother trying to top the big players, its just not worth the money, these guys have bottomless pits when it comes to adwords and have dedicated guys sitting there optimizing ALL day EVERY day just to beat you.

Go for a lesser searched term

Monetizing Your Forum - Some Tips

I've decided to give back to the DP community with some tips concerning forum monetizing that I've picked up over the years. As many people don't know how to monetize properly once their forum picks up speed, I felt I should help out a little bit.

1) Banner ads: Forums are notorious for AdSense not working. While AdSense may get you a couple of clicks here and there, often the ads are simply left to rot. Selling banner space to either local businesses if the forum is geographically centred, or to other webmasters for a fixed monthly price usually ends up being a better option. This works especially well if your forum has a high page rank. The forums at SomethingAwful.com for example charge $80 per banner ad put on their site for two weeks. At any given time there are often 10 ads rotating, resulting in at least $160 per month.

I suggest testing AdSense. If you cannot make more than you would with a monthly banner ad, change your style to the banner, as it will get you more money. It may even pay the hosting bills!

2) Charging members: This is a terrible idea for a start-up, but once your forum is up, running and getting a steady stream of new members, offer a "premium" or "gold" membership giving paying members extra privileges such as a custom title, a larger number of allowed signature links or even their own forum. Even a simple $5 from 100 members will net you $500 for some changes which cost you virtually nothing. However, I must stress: do NOT do this until your forum is successful.

3) Set up a "bank" between your forum $$ and PayPal. Namepros is the perfect example for this system. Members can buy, sell or trade NP $$. They can spend them on items in a store (such as custom titles or stickied threads) or sell them back to the bank for money via PayPal. Given as to earn NP $$ somebody has to start of having bought NP $$, this system almost guarantees you profit, especially if you charge a small commission on the "exchage rate".

4) Sell physical items relating to your forum. This may not work incredibly well with new forums, but once you're established, offer to your members forum t-shirts or similar items. Then find a company which will print your shirts, per order, at a relatively low price. Even a CafePress store should work well.

I hope you find these tips useful and help you to monetize your forums. They aren't all for brand new forums, but good things do take time and with work you can make a lot of money as a forum owner.

I saw some people getting frustrated, and just make it over the limit : keyword stuffing their websites, make entry with all keywords they have all over the website. 10 Powerful Tips on How to Improve Your Blog Traffic and Advertising Earnings

It doesn’t take an overwhelming amount of experience to make money online - especially through blogging. If you have a general grasp of concepts and ideas floating around on the internet then you should be fairly well off, even as a complete beginner (or a seasoned webmaster). If you want to aim for drastic improvement and a massive rush of traffic, keep reading.

Let’s get started with a quick personal bio about me. I figure you’d need some background information on the author(s) before you really digest the advice.

Personally, I have built over seven successful websites, a few for larger companies/corporations and a few personal ventures – about half and half. My personal startups I was more passionate about and those are the websites that you really cling to and are proud of. Starting your own blog is rewarding and improving it step by step is a rewarding process.

Always remember, be proud of what you do, love it. If you aren’t engulfed by the topic then chances are that your motivation will gradually decline. Don’t let this happen! Stick to something you know and always keep expanding your knowledge. The more you know, the better your content.

1. Your blog needs to be visually appealing. Kick clutter to the curb.

The best blogs are easy to read and minimalistic. This is the first major downfall of every blog. Keep it clean! Don’t put too many ads all over the place and don’t overdo the design. Too many ads can seem like a desperate beg for help, be smart about it! Integrate the ad’s in to seamlessly work with your design.

If your blog strains the eyes, people will not want to come back to read anything else. Use a color scheme (anywhere from 2-4 colors [for help on this, visit Color Schemer) and make sure there is enough spacing around everything. Believe me if your blog is a breeze to read, people will come back to enjoy it more often than not.

2. Don’t go overboard with ad’s if you are just starting out.

If your blog is new (less than 1-2 months old) try to stick it out until you get a decent reader base before integrating ads. You will be able to gauge people’s responses to the website first and get some loyal readers. After you have established some kind of reader base then you can begin to slowly integrate ads.

If you have too many ads, people will get turned off and annoyed, that’s the complete opposite of our goals.

3. Work, edit, and re-work your content.

Content is king as they say. That statement is definitely true. Make sure what you are writing is relevant and interesting to read. Why hang out at a website if there’s nothing worth reading? Have someone edit your articles, take a day or two after its posted and re-read it to see if you can improve anything.

Lightning Tip: Make sure to implement as many relevant keywords as possible to direct search engine traffic.

4. Don’t slack, post new stories/articles often.

I covered this a little before, but it’s worth mentioning again. Write at least 2-3 times per week. It shouldn’t take long. Hell you could talk about a cool new website you found for two paragraphs, that’s better than nothing.

Updating lets your users know that you are still there, it adds new content and gives them a reason to return to your blog.

Lightning Tip: The more you post, the more Google picks up your articles (along with other crawlers), this will in the long-run drive thousands of extra users a month to your site if not more.

5. Submit to Social Bookmarking websites.

This is a big one. When I first started out, almost 50% of my traffic came from Digg and Reddit (my two personal favorites). I made 3-4 front pages (popular posts) and traffic exploded. I remember at one point I was struggling to get 500 unique visitors a day, then an article hit a Digg/Reddit front page and my server crashed because I netted almost 60,000 people in one night.

Always submit noteworthy articles, chances are you might get at least 1-2 front page stories per month (if not more!).

6. Network yourself; find other blogs in your niche.

Find other blogs like yours and connect with the authors. E-mail them, post in-depth replies on their articles, most blog owners are extremely nice people and will be willing to help you! Offer to exchange links and such; this will help your community grow, even if by a small margin. Remember, every reader counts. As long as you have at least one reader, you are making an impact.

7. Link your website wherever you can without spamming. (Email, Forums)

Another important topic that is often overlooked. If you are a member of a forum, add it to your signature. Email? Add it as a signature to that too! Wherever you can link without being too pushy, do it. In the long run those extra pageviews will count.

8. Host your blog on your own domain.

No one likes having name.blogspot.com. Buy a domain! These days you can get one anywhere from $3-$5 per month and in no time your ads should easily cover these costs. Get your own domain and be unique.

9. Write compelling titles - capture the reader in the first line.

The title and first three sentences of a post can make or break the post. Capture the reader’s attention off the bat, make them keep reading. Boring, cookie cutter introductions are everywhere, stand out.

10. Don’t give up.

Motivation is key and is also the backbone to building a successful blog (or building anything for that matter). Remember it’s not a quarter mile sprint, it’s a marathon. Take your time, review yourself and your blog and make gradual improvements. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I am one of Mybloglog community member.
I would like to say that online status is very helpful, you might be noticed that if your status is offline. Your face will display as a dark face, no one interest to click on your page. After that I will take a look for the contents, topics and it’ detail. But if first glance, I saw the same colour , and same format, I suddenly went out without any look.

Therefore, Change your style at least every month, or twices a month. To brighten up your visitor ‘s view ^_^

No. 3 of my adsense tips is Leave the signature in the forum, more than 10 forums.

You have to schedule yourself that don’t let the forum friends away from your post. I mean. Schedule the time to join the forum, at least one day 2 forum, another day another 2 forum, then one week, you have to switch to those 10 forums with just 1-2 posts, both threat starter or replies.

The forum I suggest for you is, sure DP is the first, webmasterworld is my second recomment, google community is also significant increase your traffic, especially if your reply is touched someone

No. 8 Make one blog with no even one ads display, use this is for a landing mail. Yes you all may know exactly “Landing page” is, it’s normal use for the page for visitor landing to see products you would like to sell, But my tips is to make such a landing e mail and landing blog–oops pls don’t tell your friends for your adsense campaign, All you have to do is just make a signature on your e mail by apply one of your blog I mentioned above for distribute other of your blogs indeed.

The reason that google doesn’t accept spam mails or e mail marketing, I think because of when people click to see your blog or site, there are so many ads display and the adwords advertiser has to pay, that’s not fair for them. Especially the ads from google.com, How come I say this? I think the ads from google.com is the most cheapest. You may ever see the ads from www.google.com/adsense displayed on your site often. Yes, I filted it out : )

No. 10 Don’t ex-change your link to anybody (so strange? )

Most of people prefer to exchange your link to others, but for me, I don’t like it. The reason is, I don’t want to let my kind visitor out of my blog without any click he he, I mean if we have so many links out from blog, the visitors may interest one of those blogs than your blog, ha ha ha that’s why I don’t want to face off this problem. The way I do is, I made all my blogs list in each blog. When people comes to my blog, they can go out just other of my blog only, or they may go out with click ads. Up to them ^_^

I recently stumbled into someone that is a wealth of knowledge regarding AdSense and how to make it pay. I asked this “mystery mentor” to guest write a post here but he declined preferring to stay anonymous. However, he did encourage me to share what I had learned. I think you’ll agree that when you see these tips they are absolute quality and speak for themselves.

Why Adsense?

AdSense outperformed every affiliate program he tried.

Ad Placement

The heat-map (where visitors look more carefully) is like an F and placing the ads there will lead to a higher CTR.

For the top ad, use the google_ad_format “300×250″ and put it to the right of the left column navigation. Put a small paragraph of text above it so that the whole ad is wrapped in content. And make sure that ad is above the fold.

For the footer, use a horizontal text link ad, placed in the middle of the page like the bottom navigation many sites use. Use the 4 or 5 link unit that best fits the size. These give a lower CTR, but if you have tons of traffic, it is worth it.

Never use more than two ad blocks. The more have ads you have, the more room there is for cheap ads to appear.

Skyscraper ads do not perform as well as 300×250 ads but are a good substitute on pages where the 300×250 ads can’t be used.

Ad Design

Colors of the link of the ad should match the color of the navigation links.

Dim the URL in the ad (under the text) as much as possible so the visitor has a hard time reading it and typing it into another browser window. The color will be overruled if it is too close to the background color.

The ad text should match the page text color.

The background and border of the ad should be set to the same as the background, so they blend with the page colors.

Use an alternate color so you don’t display public service ads. PSAs do not pay but do hurt your stats.

Preventing “Ad Blindness”

You can use alternate colors for the links if it’s a forum, or a site that people come back often to prevent ad blindness. The format to rotate 3 colors randomly for the links is:

google_color_link = [”0000CC”,”800000″,”005500″];

This will rotate the colors in the bracket randomly.

Targeting Ads

To exclude menus and other noise and target the right ads you can qualify specific areas of content for Google to use in its matching criteria:

Google will still show other ads if the amount of text is not enough.

Make good use of title and h1 tags to get better targeted ads.

Don’t forget to think about a product when writing a page - and mention it - so Google has some idea of which ads to place there. Good things to mention are books, software or equipment that could be useful to the user. Mentioning items in relation to the content will only help everyone.

Targeting an Audience

Think of what “Mr. Nobody” looks for, and you’ll get more money. SEO sites are the worse for AdSense, because SEO people don’t click ads. Amusement and games give very low money for the clicks.

Long-term Strategy

If every page you make raises just $.04 per day from the time the page ranks and you put up 5 pages per day you’ll raise your income $.20 per day. With 365 days in a year you’ll make $73.00 more per day!

One site may not make much money but several “not much” sites can equal a lot.

Defense

An update will not destroy several “not much” websites, but it may wipe out one mega-earner.

Big keywords hurt much more when you lose them. 100 pages bringing 10 visitors are better than 1 page that brings 1000.

You must have more than one site to make income online.

Working with Partners

Greed will make people make the wrong decision. Just remember, you can only trust yourself.

Link Building

Note: I asked about having ads on the site right away or if you should build some links first to get things rolling. Mystery Mentor suggested to place ads at launch.

I don’t swap links, so all my sites are just one-way natural links. I can’t say if having ads are slowing natural links because I always put the ads right from the start. I do get loads of them even if my pages have ads on them.

Design versus Content

I’m no designer and basically use the same template for all my sites. If the content is right, you’ll get links eventually.

Attitude

Think good… don’t be influenced by complaining people. Just do the work and be free in a few years.

Make a good helpful site: don’t pull tricks and you’ll get there.

The rest is a patience thing.

9 'Must-Do' Marketing Tips for Directories

Having been marketing my directories for so long, it was time I reviewed my directory marketing strategies. What better way than to document my personal strategies and so I can review them? Don’t be mistaken, I don’t profess to be the marketing guru of directories as Linksfactory and Eonte are still not the most popular directories yet (but they are getting there in time!). This is used as a periodic review for myself to see how I am doing and at the same time may be able to give you some suggestions and tips especially for those just new in the business or those who have grown weary and need a gentle reminder if they are neglecting some aspects of marketing.

Be Born with a Bang! Many of you may have already passed this stage, but for those about to launch your directories, do note that the launch phase is extremely crucial and could either create a mighty wave of buzz that will carry your directory over the next few months and beyond or it could bury your directory in a blackhole. A good powerful launch will enable a large portion of the related industries to know you, particularly fellow directory owners.
Submit, submit, submit. Be visible to people in the industry through your submissions in many directories. Notice I said ‘BE VISIBLE’. Just submitting alone is not enough and sometimes, you need to fork out more to get Featured listings just so that you can be on the frontpage. This returns on the investment is two-fold. First, other companies and directories will more easily notice your directory and recognize that you are serious about investing in your directory. Secondly, you will usually get a stronger backlink from being at the top of the category.
Free Themes/Templates/Software - Anyone? Sponsorship of themes/templates and software typically cost more than directory submissions, but the returns could also potentially be much more. A single software sponsorship could give your directory attention from thousands of visitors if the software was good. Similarly with Wordpress themes that can receive hundreds of downloads over time. It is always wise to diversify your investment and sponsorship of such products are a good way of doing that. Also, the returns of your investment will stretch over a very long period.
Website Advertising (of course). Needless to say, you will need to buy advertising space on popular relevant websites in order to get your directory noticed. How do you find these websites? Just think about the websites that you frequent. If you are a serious directory owner, I’m sure that many of them will be relevant to directories like SEO, blogs, marketing, etc. All these websites will be good choices for advertising. Contact the owners and see if a deal can be made.
Creative Advertising. Many (perhaps including myself) tend to get caught up with only a few ways of advertising, either text links or banners. Some may not even have banners. But I’ve noticed that some sites like Alive Directory uses T-shirts, games and various other means to get their message out there to the public. For those who do not even have professional banners designed for your directories, this is the least you can do right now. Having varied advertising means harnesses the natural advantages of these means over text links. Banners will garner more attention and catch visitors’ eyes more easily for example. So be creative and nobody says that you are only allowed to use the traditional ways of advertising. If you think of something new, by all means do it!
Join da Club. No man is an island and many directory owners have gained much from being involved in the community of directory owners. Obviously, the easiest way is through forums like Digitalpoint. As you contribute your experience, lessons and ideas to the community, people will associate your reputation on the forums to your directories. Gain enough respect in the community and your directory will rise in stature too. Also, many potential customers like SEO firms frequent these popular forums to determine where they should submit their sites to. I cannot over-emphasize this point, community is one of the keys of marketing your directory.
Signature, email, Newsletter Advertising. Besides advertising on websites, there are also many other areas to advertise. These include buying the signature spots on members who participate actively in the relevant forums. Buying space on newsletters of blogs and email listings. These will enable you to cast a wider net of advertising rather than just being constrained to websites.
Write, Write, Write. This may probably fall into the same category as both advertising points mentioned above. But it is also slightly different. Writing and submitting articles will not only help to market your directory, but it will also help increase the recognition and authority of your directory if the article carries very useful information about the industry. Of course, this applies to both article directories and blogs. People who read the article will feel that the directory that sponsored the article knows its business and that in turn boosts the status of your directory. Obviously, the reverse is true too. Write a bad article and your directory’s reputation goes down the drain as well.
Sale! This is one word that is sure to get people’s attention. Run periodic promotions and discounts for your directory. People will sure sit up and take notice. Don’t think of it as money lost, but money invested for people to know who you are and that your directory exists! I’ve lost count of the number of times I learnt about a directory only because they had a promotion going on. So be generous and put a little money on the table. It is surely not in vain.

I have been tirelessly marketing both my directories using most of these strategies and hope to continue to expand on them as I believe this provides the best value-add to my customers than anything else. Getting listed in dirs is good for you, you get a lot of backlinks. I am posting here only high quality, free, human reviewed, PR6+ directories only ( BTW I checked the PR of the directories I am providing with Google Toolbar and I have to say that there is a big difference in their PR since the last update. I have seen many directories that have fallen from PR6 to PR0, I suppose they have used some black seo to get promoted and finally they lost their PR). The good thing about these dirs is that if you get your site listed you will get lots of traffic. The bad thing is that the review proccess of your site often is more than 3 months. You can use google to find some, but the lists that come on first page results shows the old PR of the directories. So in my view these 21 dirs that I have posted here a worth to submit to them. Don't get mad if you are not listed after 3 months from submission. Your time will come, don't give up!

2. Link Exchange with other webmasters
This is also good way to get backlinks. When contacting other webmasters write in personalized way. Tell them why you want to exchange links with them, introduce your site to them, tell them more about your site. Try to exchange links with only high quality sites with higher PR. You may find good partners to exchange links, the best way is contacting them in personal, or you may use some forums to find link exchange requests, and last but not least you may use some automated link exchange sites. Maybe I won't tell you something new but try to write good quality unique articles and post them to the best free article directories. This is one of the best way to do 2 things for your site: first get a lot of backlinks from the articles and second get a lot of traffic I hope you know that you have to put your keywords that you compete for in the anchor text which is very very important for higher results in the SE's.

Do a simple search on Google with this search term:

With this string you will get all .edu blogs that allow posting comments and do not require to be logged in. Hope you find this string perfect. You can experiment with it for all kind of domains, it's up to you. Make blog comments and put links in them, make sure your comment is genuine and not spam. You have to read the whole topic and find something to comment on the topic… job is done. After doing some comments maybe in a week you will see in Google index that you have links from .edu domain or .gov

7. Social Bookmarking Site Submission
This is the newest technique to get quality backlinks to your site. These days people like to share their interests in social bookmarking sites. Posting your interesting article to such sites will boost your traffic and give you thousands of visitors. But it is not so easy as it sounds - you have to write really good article, or news or something very very interesting to get your article on first page of these sites.

This is the way I like best for getting backlinks. Find forums that are in your niche and create account with them. In userpage write your homepage and you have a backlink. DO a search on Google and you will see how many forums are out there, you will be amazed. Do this process many many times and you will have one way links pointing to your site.You can combine this with forum posts and this way you will get your signature shown much more times. Personally to me it doesn't matter that forums have nofollow tags, Google still counts that as a link to you.

9. Blog comments
Another great way of letting the world know about your site. This method is similar to forum comments, again most of the blogs comments have nofollow tags but Google still count this as a backlink. Here is another good way to get a backlink from a blog's main page:
Find blogs that have "top comments" or "recent comments" plugins, this way if you are top commentator you will get your link on the main page of a blog. Do this with blogs that fall into your category. I didn't knew that but a friend told me this method and I must say that I see good results for now.

10. Get a link on a mainpage of PR 9 sites
This one you probably do not know but I am going to share it. Spare some time, do a search for sites that have PR 9 and have a donation section in their mainpage. I am sure there are at least 20 such sites. In this donation section they post latest 20 or 30 donators. Do a donation for at least 1$ and you will see your site listed there. This is the cheapest way I think to have one way non-reciprocal backlink from PR 9 site, don't you think?

11. Design a Template
Designing a Template for blogs (like WordPress) is a good way for getting lots of backlinks.Creating a good looking template and putting a link back to your site on the footer of the template will give you thousands of good one-way backlinks. That will help you get higher rankings in Technorati. Also thousands of blogs will be linking to you which will help you increase SERP.

12. Offering Free Stuff
People always like free stuff and bonuses. Giving something for free is good marketing strategy for attracting more visitors. For example you can make a free tool that your visitors would put on their site, free information, free eBook, free subscription to newsletter or something like that. You can think of many other ways to give something for free based on your niche.

Summary: Take some time, combine all of the above methods, look for long term profit from these techniques and you are done. A lot of you will say that this is going to be hard but to be honest only hardworking today will bring you trully good results and so much needed traffic. Of course there are some other ways to generate traffic but you will lose much money with them and won't see any good results. I am saying this from my own experience. I have tried many such programs for traffic generation, PPC and stuff like that. Personally to me this way of getting traffic sucks. Stick to these 12 best ways for getting quality free traffic and you won't have to spend your money for nothing. Contacting webmasters of relevant sites requesting for have a link exchange. Write personalized emails to request for link exchange. It will be better if you write 2-3 good things about their site and tell them how link exchange will benefit both parties. Also, mentioning good qualities and PageRank is always good idea.

Do not forget to ask and give (1) URL of link, (2) Title of link, and (3) Description of Link

Now, main thing is How to find good link partner. Search google and other search engines for terms like: “keyword reciprocal links”, “keyword links”, “Keyword link exchange”, “keyword link submit”, “Keyword link partner” etc.

You need to put link back to your site. Let your article do double duty- (1) bring traffic and (2) link building. You need to make your keywords anchor of link to your site.

To be very frank, I see quick results when I succeed to place my 2-3 articles on high PageRank and high traffic sites. Some times we need to submit article like submission to directories and sometimes we need to request webmaster via e-mail. You need to tell them why they should put your article on their site.

I am a new user of stumbleupon and my experience with it is that it is too addictive and can give you lots of targeted traffic. And if you monetize the traffic i wont say you'll make lots but better.

To do this right. Setup a special page only for stumbleupon traffic so that you can track the number of unique visitors from stumbleupon.
Next , go to http://explorerdestroyer.com/ and get the automatic IE detection code. Put the code on the page for stumbleupon traffic and see money pouring in.

2.You can also push your visitors to download any google pack . for that you'll get $2 from each referral.

3. I've found that the stumbleupon traffics are very interested to online video game . so use CPA network like cj.com or cpaempire.com to monetize them.

4. Tag your own site only to related category.

5.Use google adsense.

6. Use a eye-catchin headline like 'hey! fellow stumbler , its too hot to handle' or 'Pssst!! check it out'
